Diego began his accounting career in Colombia in 1997, when he joined the accounting department of one of Colombia's largest and most prestigious insurance companies. After five years, he felt it was time to leave Colombia to pursue one of his dreams, and learn a second language (English). He moved to New Zealand, and in 2005 started working with a medium sized Chartered Accountancy firm, in Auckland. He obtained his CA designation with the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, in 2011. After two years in New Castle, Australia, where he also worked in public practice, Diego and his family decided to move to Canada.
Diego joined Swanson Gryba & Company in February 2014, as a Staff Accountant. Although he enjoyed the challenges of working with a large insurance company, the move to public practice has taught him that he prefers the personal contact and varied learning opportunities which come from working with a wide range of small business owners.
He is an avid runner, loves outdoor activities, winter sports and spending time with his wife, Margarita and two daughters. He and his family enjoy travelling and getting to know people from different cultures.
